People always say “what can I do” or “tell me what you need” when you are going through something. Honestly, when you are going through one of the hardest times in your life, it’s hard to think “what do I need.” You are just broken and want someone to help without you having to think about it.
Well, that’s exactly what the Brendlen’s do!! They are so selfless and caring. When our son was born at 25 weeks, almost 6 months in ICU, and so many procedures to keep count, we were broken, mentally, physically and financially. Around Christmas time after he had come home, Chelsea reached out to us about Daxton being their sponsor for their yearly Christmas lights display. We were overwhelmed with gratitude! They selflessly decorate their entire property with the most amazing Christmas lights display.
They only ask if you would like, leave a donation in the box on your way out. They then give the family the monies that they raise. They have done this for years and it’s always to help those who don’t know exactly what to ask for when in need! They will always be some of ours and Daxton’s hero’s! I’ve always referred to Dax as “our” miracle because so many loved, prayed and gave to him. He is the whole community’s miracle!

For most of my life I have had the opportunity to give back and help others through my family’s Christmas light display and various fundraisers we did for the community. I am excited to be apart of this organization to be able to help others and give back year round.
My occupation requires me to visit the homes of our senior adults in 4 counties. On a daily basis, I find
My name is Kenzie Stone. I am a member of Caring Hearts of South Carolina for two reasons. I experienced the Brendlen family’s compassion firsthand in 2011. I am grateful for what their family did for mine during such a hard time.
I wanted to join Caring Hearts because I believe they make a huge difference within the community. Chelsea, Barry, and their family have always been able to help other families out and provide great assistance in the community since I was in high school, and I see the work they have done in the community every day. My family has also experienced the impact they have on the community and assistance they provide personally. The reason I wanted to join caring hearts is so I can not only give back to my community, I can have a positive impact in the lives of those people that we are able to help.
I am so excited to be part of Caring Hearts. There are so many people in the Lowcountry that have experienced unexpected tragedy and it is so wonderful to be part of an organization that is able to help uplift and bring joy in their time of need.
